Dear Gertie thanks for contacting us. In your situation you might want to try https://wordpress.com/ and https://blogger.com/ they are both popular platforms and allow for free websites. I would definitely recommend wordpress above blogger. Two reason 40% of the internet is built on wordpress and it offers the ability to have your own domain and multiple seo options.
